Calm water, mountain views and easy access — Whistler’s lakes are made for family paddle days. Here are our favourites for getting out with the kids.

Whistler’s lakes are a family playground

When the sun’s out, there’s nothing better than a paddle on one of Whistler’s calm, clear lakes. They’re shallow and sheltered in the right spots, ringed by mountains, and just minutes from the village — ideal for little adventurers and nervous first-time paddlers alike.

Our favourite lakes for families

  • Alta Lake — sandy beaches, gentle water and rental docks; our go-to for camp paddle afternoons.
  • Green Lake — stunning turquoise water and big mountain views.
  • Lost Lake — a sheltered swimming beach with easy trails right behind it.

Whichever you choose, mornings are usually calmest — the water tends to be glassy before the afternoon breeze picks up.

Tips for a smooth paddle day

  • Life jackets on, always — even for strong swimmers.
  • Sun hats, sunscreen and plenty of water.
  • Start kneeling on the board before standing up.

At Combo Camps, paddlesports are the perfect afternoon reward after a morning of biking or tennis — and our certified coaches keep every lake session safe and full of laughs.
